We have a great pleasure in presenting this book on 'Organic and Inorganic Chemistry'. This book is written strictly according to the revised CBCS pattern syllabus and guidelines prepared by the board of studies in chemistry of North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon for the First Year B. Sc. students in force from the academic year 2018 - 2019.
The revised syllabus requires a new approach towards the presentation of the subject. Studying organic chemistry is not to memorise the reactions but to understand the fundamental reactions. We have tried to give the key reactions wherever necessary. Sincere efforts have been made by us to explain topics in simple language. This has been supplemented by a number of examples.
